Costa Rica, Chile and Uruguay are the safest countries in Latin America, while Haiti remains the most dangerous country when it comes to security for business executives and multinationals, according to the latest Latin Security Index developed by FTI Consulting Ibero America for Latin Business Chronicle.
Costa Rica embarked on implementing ecotourism programs for two primary reasons: first, because tourism is one of the fastest growing
sectors of many economies in Latin America and because of its ability to generate needed foreign exchangeþwhich is critical for
developing countries. Second, ecotourism has been argued to be a win-win situation for local inhabitants, the environment, as well
as the economy in general as the country moves toward achieving sustainable development.
OSLO (Reuters) - Australia and Costa Rica are good examples for the
multi-billion dollar world ecotourism business, which is growing at
about 30 percent a year and in need of tight quality controls, experts
said on Monday.
